  • ⚬ US dollars are accepted in all resort locations (all-inclusive fees and off-resort excursions) and the exchange rate is very competitive.
⚬ For off-resort excursions an additional charge is added when you use your credit card so it is less expensive to pay for excursions with cash.
⚬ If/when visiting locations off the resort it is usually better to use cash (US dollars or Dominican pesos) for purchases to protect your credit card information.
  • Should I book my off-resort excursions through the resort? Recommend YES
  • ⚬ There are a wide variety of off-resort excursions available.
⚬ These can be purchased from an on-resort team for a published price.
⚬ These can also be purchased from off-resort local establishments and the price is negotiable.
⚬ Purchasing from the on-resort team is convenient and provides guarantees that an off-resort purchase will not.
  • Do I need to tip even though I have paid the all-inclusive? NO
  • ⚬ However, you will likely establish a report with some of the resort staff and they will provide exceptional service.
⚬ We recommend that you bring several $1’s and $5’s and be prepared to tip if you feel you have received exceptional service.
⚬ The staff expects nothing so a little goes a long way and tipping early may ensure service beyond your expectations.
  • What accommodations do you recommend?
  • ⚬ If traveling with a larger number of people (8 adults or more and children) we would recommend a villa.
⚬ Villas come with their own pool, breakfast made daily in your villa, a golf cart for getting around the resort, and a family style bar-b-que cooked for you one of the evenings.
⚬ If traveling in a smaller group (2 or 3 couples) we would recommend the Presidential Suites if luxurious accommodations are what you are looking for. ⚬ If traveling in a smaller group (2 or 3 couples) or with children and you want to be nearer the ocean and closer to the daily activities we would recommend the Tropical or the Cofresi Palm.

  • What airport should I use to enter the Dominican Republic? Recommend Puerto Plata airport
  • ⚬ Puerto Plata airport is closer to the resort so the transfer time is shorter (about 40 minutes). You will travel through Puerto Plata on the way to the resort and get to see some of the Dominican Republic’s 9th largest city.
⚬ Alternatively you can arrive via the Santiago airport. This airport is further away from the airport so the transfer will take longer (1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on traffic). Santiago is the Dominican Republic’s 2nd largest city.

⚬ This is accomplished via the resort bands you will receive upon arrival.
⚬ You will receive gold bands which provide access to all VIP locations. We will send you a list of these along with a map of the resort once you email us.
⚬ During your stay you will see black bands and white bands. Each of these provides access to a small number of exclusive locations.
⚬ During your stay you will be offered an opportunity to attend a sales presentation and hear about the resort and visit the exclusive areas.
  • Must I attend the resort’s sales presentation? NO
  • ⚬ The resort makes money by selling memberships (like timeshares but better). You are not required to attend their sales presentations. If asked to attend you simply say no thank you and go about enjoying your stay.
⚬ However, if you can tolerate a high-pressure sales presentation and you want to see the exclusive areas of the resort we would suggest (not recommend) that attending the presentation would be enjoyable.
⚬ If you like the resort as much as we do you may feel inclined to purchase your own membership. Please note that everything is negotiable if you decide to purchase a membership.
  • Do I need a membership to visit the resort again? ABSOLUTELY NOT
  • ⚬ We really love the resort and stay there 3 or 4 times a year.
⚬ However, we realize that some folks do not like a specific place enough to visit it multiple times. In light of that, we decided to make our membership available to folks that like a resort environment with luxurious accommodations along with the “all-inclusive” all you can eat and drink vacation.
  • Is internet access available? YES, but for a fee in some areas.
  • ⚬ Some areas have open access and you can check on these during check in.

  • Do I need reservations for dinner? YES, if you want eat at the restaurants providing a VIP dinner.
  • ⚬ Each night the resort arranges dinners for their VIP guests (you) at specific restaurants.
⚬ If you want to enjoy one of these dinners (highly recommended) you need to make a reservation.
⚬ Often the resort will ask you for your dinner reservation preferences at check-in. If you let us know what kinds of foods you like we can help prepare you for this before you arrive. If you are unable to decide during check-in you can make and/or revise your reservations the following day.
⚬ Once you make a reservation there is no requirement that you keep it. After a long day in the sun or after having more fun that a human should be allowed at an off-resort excursion you may want to catch a quick dinner at one of the resort’s buffet’s and this is no problem at all.
  • Do I need to dress differently for the VIP dinners? YES, for some of them.
  • ⚬ It is highly recommended that you bring 1 or 2 sets of clothes other than shorts.
